Super Sports Sunday is Festival Finale in Simmons Park

British NDP titles for OCRA Flyers

image: NDP Finals 2018OCRA Flyers trampolinists have secured two British NDP titles at the individual trampoline, DMT and tumbling NDP finals, held at the Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham.

Owen Pitman and Imogen Spooncer qualified for the national NDP finals at the regional team finals, a national event held at the Birmingham Arena in June, where Owen secured two individual gold medals in trampoline and double mini trampoline, and Imogen won a bronze medal in DMT. A fantastic performance by young people from all over West Devon aged 6-16 years who have been part of local “Get Into” sessions in 12 different sports.

NEW: Forest Chi commences May 10th at the Pavilion

OCRA Music Project

The OCRA Music Project runs every Tuesday at the Pavilion in the Park from 2pm. The music project is mainly led by local music leader Kelly Young.

The Bands Project is currently supported by Devon Music Hub for young people up to 25 years old. The project started in 2014 with the aim of helping young people learn instruments, build on existing musical skills and act as a platform for promotion and opportunities. The project encourages the participants to be as independent and proactive as possible.

Young people involved in the project have many opportunities, including:

  • Individual singing, guitar, bass and drum lessons
  • Drumming workshops
  • Gig slots at the Exeter Phoenix, the Devon County Show, Okehampton Singers concerts, Morton Music Day, OCRA Sports Festival, Okehampton Acoustic Club
  • Access to recording and rehearsal equipment and rehearsal space

The teaching of the project has been rating as ‘excellent’ by Devon Education Music Hub.
