The Oke Memory Cafe is based at the Pavilion in the Park and is hosted by Community Links, OCRA (Okehampton Community Recreation Association) and Home Instead. Home Instead is a Tavistock based home care service for the eldery who have dementia.
The Memory Cafe was discontinued when the covid pandemic hit in 2020. However, in December last year, there were discussions of it opening again anad it finally re-opened in March 2023.
The Cafe meet every Tuesday from 1pm till 3pm and it is open to anyone with dementia including their carers, family members and loved ones. They do a range of activities to help their physical and mental health especially if they are struggling with the condition. Carers also have the opportunity to speak to others in the same position and welcome respite.
