OCRA Gym, Trampoline & DMT Club took trampolines and a track into Simmons Park for Super Sporting Sunday to show the public some of the skills they have been learning at the club.
Super Sporting Sunday is a fun day with a variety of free activities on offer for the public to try, and is the last day of OCRA’s Sport & Fitness Festival, a week of sporting activity for all.
OCRA gymnasts demonstrated skills from handstands and cartwheels to tumbling passes and double somersaults. Members of the public from 3 to 70 years old were able to learn skills on the equipment for free throughout the day, alongside OCRA gymnasts.
Some of the equipment was funded by Sport England for OCRA’s adult gym and trampoline session for 14 year olds and over, to get more people involved in sport. The session runs every Thursday, 8.30-9.30pm, in the Okehampton College Gym.
The club’s head coach, Vicki Pritchard said: ‘It was a really fun day. Thank you to our coaches, volunteers and gymnasts for their hard work and enthusiasm, and for keeping going through the heat!’
OCRA is running gymnastics, trampolining and double mini-trampoline (DMT) activities throughout the summer holidays at sport-specific camps and its multi-activity Sport & Art days, as well as other activities. For more information, visit https://ocrasport.org.uk/get-involved/holidays/.
