Finishing 2nd overall at the South West Rotary Youth Games
A fantastic performance by young people from all over West Devon aged 6-16 years who have been part of local “Get Into” sessions in 12 different sports.
Sports charity OCRA working with Fusion, local clubs , sports coaches and instructors have then put together teams for the 2018 SW Rotary Youth Games that was held in Dawlish last weekend.
There were medals a plenty for local teams and overall when all sports were added up West Devon finished 2nd against 10 other area teams from Devon & Cornwall
Many of the young people are also recently new to their sport and this level of competition. Sessions have a focus on trying new sports, building skills, strategies and confidence, coming together as a team, developing friendships and having fun.
Stuart Lord OCRA Manager said “It’s great to see young people from all over West Devon coming together and having a good time in sports as diverse as Cyclo X, Gymnastics, Netball, Dance, Skateboarding, Scooters, Hockey, Girls Football, Badminton, Triathlon, Tennis and Ability sessions. Big thanks to the clubs ,coaches and instructors that make West Devon such a vibrant place to live. We would also like to thank West Devon Borough Council for their financial support that allows this to happen”.
