Four primary school football tournaments took place in October – all organised by Okehampton Community recreation Association (OCRA).
On 3rd October, the annual small schools took place at Gulworthy. Nine teams took part from Lamerton, Lewtrenchard, Bere Alston, Meavy & Mary Tavy & Brentor. After some very close games, the final was between Meavy Orange and Meavy Green, with the Orange team winning the tournament.
On 5th October, Okehampton Primary hosted Bridestowe, Milton Abbot, Lydford, Northlew and Boasley Cross which resulted in Okehampton C winning, with a Bridestowe & Milton Abbot combined team coming second.
Tavistock Community Football Club hosted the next two tournaments – the large schools of Whitchurch, St Peter’s, Horrabridge, St Andrew’s & Tavistock with A & B competitions and the Girls School Games qualifier.
St Peter’s A won the large schools A competition and St Andrew’s B the B competition.
The Girls football tournament was for year 3/4 & 5/6 pupils.
Eleven teams from St Andrew’s, Tavistock, Whitchurch, Meavy (2), Horrabridge (2) St Peter’s, Bere Alston & Mary Tavy & Brentor (2) took part in the 5/6 competition. Horrabridge A beat Tavistock in the final to go through to the county finals.
Six teams contested the year 3/4 event with Horrabridge A winning the round robin tournament. They will also go through to the county finals.
