Hannah Worth – Triathlon – January 2019

Triathlon ‘Age-Group’ racing is where you race as an amateur (not in the ‘pro’ category), with people similar in age, with Hannah’s competing in the the 35-39 age group. Following a 2nd Place podium finish at Weymouth Ironman70.3, Hannah qualified for the World Championship final in South Africa in September 2018. With a strong finish time and placing, she was also selected to represented the GBR team at the middle distance European triathlon in Ibiza in October.

Training for middle distance triathlon, which is a 1.9km Swim, 90km bike and half marathon distance run, requires significant commitment of time, especially on the biking element, which is Hannah’s strongest discipline. Like many ‘age-groupers’ Hannah has had to balance training with full time work based in Exeter and family life.

“Having access to great facilities like the gym, especially when the weather is damp and cold are key to helping get the hours in. My aim for 2019 is to focus in on the cycling and put down some strong time-trailing finishes. They call it ‘the race of truth’, just you against the clock. I know upping the strength training will improve my power output and I look forward to Meadowlands helping me focus this training”
