Flyers’ High Five at Griffin Competition

Image: OCRA Flyers at Griffin, StreetFlyers Gym, Trampoline & DMT team have won five medals at the Griffin trampoline competition in Street, Somerset.

Most of OCRA’s gymnasts were competing one or two grades higher than last season, with some competing for the first time. For this competition, gymnasts were required to perform one compulsory routine and one voluntary routine, for which they could perform higher difficulty skills. The scores from the two routines were added together to form the total mark.

In his first Open competition, Owen Pitman performed two excellent routines with a high tariff to take first place. Miya Porter gave a stylish performance to win the NDP4 U14 competition, with Elise Boucher also performing two superb routines to come first in the CDG2 class.

Skye File also did well in her first competition, achieving a bronze medal in the Award 6 8+ class. In the NDP1 11+ class, Bethan Honey and Alice Smith showed good form in their routines, Bethan finishing 2nd and Alice taking 13th place. Imogen Spooncer also performed well, coming 5th in NDP5.

OCRA Flyers head coach Vicki Pritchard said: “Everyone gave excellent performances and achieved a great set of results across a range of levels. Thank you also to David Boucher for volunteering as a judge. We’re now focusing on the schools competition at the end of November.”

The club trains on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and will be starting additional sessions on a Saturday after Christmas.

OCRA is now raising money for more competition trampolines and is running a sponsored skills event and a Christmas gym and trampoline party as part of its fundraising campaign. Anyone wishing to get involved in these fun events should contact Vicki at vicki@ocrasport.org.uk.

Vicki Pritchard, OCRA Flyers coach, said: “Well done to all of our gymnasts, and thank you to Jo Vine and Ann Smith for judging so that more gymnasts could enter. Thank you also to all of the parents for staying to help pack the equipment away at the end of the day.”

The gymnasts are looking forward to the next South West competition in February. For a full list of results, see http://gymandtrampolineclub.ocrasport.org.uk/news-and-results/.
