Congratulations to OCRA Flyers Gym and Trampoline Club, who have taken six places in the South West trampoline and double mini trampoline squads.

The South West regional team qualifying competition was held at the University of Bath. The top two performers in each grade and age group in trampoline and double mini trampoline (DMT) qualify for places in the regional team, with performers who come third and fourth qualifying as reserves.

Owen Pitman won the NDP4 13+ Men’s trampoline and the NDP1 13+ Men’s DMT classes with top-scoring routines and passes, taking a place in both squads.

Imogen Spooncer, Madison Vine and Miya Porter performed four quality passes each to take first, second and third places respectively in the 13+ Women’s NDP1 DMT, securing two places in the DMT regional team and one reserve place. Miya Porter also came fourth in Women’s 13+ NDP3 trampoline, taking another South West reserve place.

In her first regional team qualifier, Bethan Honey performed two superb routines in the Women’s 11-12 NDP1 trampoline class to come tenth.

Following the competition, Vicki Pritchard, OCRA coach, has been selected as a coach for the South West trampoline squad.

The South West trampoline and DMT teams will have two training days in Bath and Poole, before competing at the Birmingham Arena in June at the British Gymnastics (BG) regional team final. At the Birmingham Arena, they will also have the chance to qualify for the BG individual NDP finals.

Last year, a grant from Sport England and club fundraising enabled OCRA to purchase a 4×4 Ultimate trampoline, a double mini trampoline and three extra tumble track panels for an adult gym and trampoline session for 14 year olds and over. The equipment has given young people and adults the opportunity to try gym and trampolining for the first time, develop new skills, and stay in sport.
